Lower Kabete Dam Resort is a proposed design concept set on the lush banks of the Lower Kabete Dam in the Rosetree area.
Taking advantage of the site topography, the design approach was to set the parking and entry off Lower Kabete Road, have the restaurant with a jetty into the lake in the valley, and then situate the cottages on the opposite side of the valley farther away from the public road. The cottages are staggered along the contours to ensure each cottage has a view of the lake without compromising the privacy of other cottages.
Each cottage is a self-contained unit featuring an elevated balcony that enhances privacy, ensuring that no one can look onto a patron lounging on it from the lower approach. The materials chosen for the design of the cottages allow them to harmoniously blend into the surrounding forest environment. The balconies are adorned with slender sticks, their bark carefully stripped away to reveal the smooth, natural wood beneath. The walls, composed of sturdy rammed earth, showcase a warm earthy hue that echoes the colors of the landscape, anchoring the buildings firmly to their site and enhancing the feeling of unity with nature.
